PickOne is a creative textiles company owned and operated by James Donald in Edinburgh, Scotland.

 
 

I am primarily a weaver using Scottish materials, including lamb's wool, Shetland wool and other locally-sourced fibres.

Based in Edinburgh, I trained at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design in Dundee before establishing PickOne in 1997. For a number of years since I have released regular collections, developed a teaching practice in weave — running weekend weave workshops as well as evening classes — and established PickOne Productions; an events company specialising in curated exhibitions featuring the best of contemporary Scottish design.

Currently I am also developing an Open Access Studio Hire in which weavers can hire equipment, specifically a 32-shaft Megado with two beams, plus studio space, on a month-by-month basis.

Well this is exciting … the Mighty Wolf is fully dressed + weaving like a dream … loving using the throw shuttles on this, which makes the process off smoother + slightly quicker. This is a Monks Belt construction in merino lambswool

We run a variety of evening & weekend courses and one-off workshops covering many aspects of weaving & textiles. With flexible schedules and equipment supplied, they’re the perfect chance for beginners to learn the craft or for experienced weavers to expand or improve their practice.
